How to make Bacon Spaghetti Bake

This is so easy! Cook the spaghetti noodles to al dente as directed on the package.

Begin the sauce by chopping the bacon and onion. Sauté the bacon over medium heat in a 4 quart dutch oven until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and drain on paper towels. Add the onion to the bacon grease and cook until tender. Reduce heat and pour in two cans of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning. Let simmer until thickened. Stir in bacon. The sauce should look like this:

Spray a casserole dish and add cooked spaghetti noodles. Top with tomato sauce and give a quick stir to lightly sauce noodles. Bake until heated through and serve. In a hurry? Skip this step and add the noodles directly to the dutch oven for a quick stovetop dinner.

This dish is best served with garlic bread and a simple salad or veggie, such as green beans. If it’s been an extremely hard day, this pairs well with a glass of red wine.

What can I do to jazz this up even more?

A simple way to get even more taste from this recipe is to use any variety of seasoned diced tomatoes. These are sold in Italian, celery and onion, and even spicy flavors. You could even top with your favorite cheese during the last few minutes of baking.

Can I prepare this ahead of time?

Yes! To make your weeknights even easier, prepare ahead of time by assembling the casserole and refrigerating for up to 3 days. To bake, simply set out on counter for 30 minutes and bake as directed.

How to reduce this recipe:

This recipe feeds a large family, but you can easily reduce it to four servings by using 8oz spaghetti, 1/2 lb of bacon, and one can each of diced tomatoes and tomato sauce.
